Come Visit ~Belle's Beauty Shop

Isabelle comes running in (to show me that she has FINALLY decided to use the super cool hair, make-up and nail design book I got her for Christmas.) and is showing me the very first design she has made, and to tell me her

"Great idea" she is going to design a bunch of different hairstyles, make-up, and nail designs. Then she is going to set up a shop and people can pay her (she is saving half of her earnings for an American Girl doll she has wanted for 4 years, and the other half she is donating to The Massachusetts Fund)

So she and her sisters set up shop in my bathrom, AKA Belle's Beauty Shop.

This is the waiting area with some reading material

This is where the magic happens.

The nail drying area... blowing not required, she is just a busy lady with places to go
Some pictures of very satisfied customers....
The Determined Ms. Annelise Emilyn, Author and Illustrator of  "How to get everything you want."

The Executive Producer of Sweeties in Sugar Land, Ms. Grace Angelique

The Lovely Ms. LilyKate Juliana,  She has won over a million KISS awards for her looks alone!
What fun these girls had, ok me too, I had my nails, hair, and make-up done too... I even got in the car to run to the store with this divine look!

I love their imaginations! hope we have some more of these great times

When can you come visit Belle's Beauty Shop?

In my opinion -Being a landlord is like a terrible disease.

Owning rental properties is is definitely more difficult then I had ever expected. Especially being 1300 miles away from them.

I find myself wondering how grown men and women have such jacked up priorities!!
I mean it only makes sense that you pay for a roof over your head, then a car to get you to the job that pays your bills, and from there feel free to prioritize any which way.

If anyone can explain to me how drugs, gifts, cell phone, cable, or even food, are more important then paying your rent I would love to be educated.

And before someone says food is more important, remember I have 9 kids... and we have had hard times. I learned and received help from: Churches give out free food, family members and friends will help, if things are that bad, the government has a program.

I recently had to leave my family and go to Ohio (7 months pregnant) to take care of a rental property that took my breath away. I have never been into a house that was so mistreated in all of my life. I cannot even imagine breaking 2 windows, this house had NINE broken windows! In every wall of the house there were holes, and I don't mean nail holes either! Carpeting ripped out, baseball sized holes burnt into carpeting, carpeting tore up by an animals, and the fleas were so extreme I cannot even describe in words! In my 36 years I have never seen so much black mold in one kitchen! pics to follow

Honestly I could go on and on, but what a downer of a blog this would become (more then it already is).

On the flip side, I am extremely blessed. I have an Uncle that is brilliant, a perfectionist, and compassionate.
Uncle Dennis and I

He came over to the property (I thought it need to be condemned) and he seen a completely different vision then me.

The linoleum was ripped, that's actually a wall, where the heck did the DRAWER go?, a window made of duct tape!!! these are just a few pics of what I walked into!!

I left Ohio after 30 days of being away from my husband and 8 kids and headed home... My amazing Uncle had the whole house under construction but had replaced every window in the house, refaced the porch walls, tore down and rebuilt the deck!!
I should have pictures of the finished house very soon, when I do I will post them to compare.

I am forever grateful to my Uncle for leaping into a mess that everyone else would run from!
Many thanks to Dennis and his 'crew' Dave and David!

To end this post, I would like to warn people that being a landlord is not a job I would EVER recommend to anyone!

Do you have a rental property? How would have handled a situation like this?

Daddy's Whack when they Don't Stack

I love my husband dearly, but he has this crazy issue with cans not stacking!!!

We go to the grocery store our favorite is H-E-B (however I think we are at Kroger in this picture) to get canned foods. Most people have a certain brand they like how it taste... not my husband, he has to buy the canned food brands that stack .... or in other words nest inside the rim.

He is VERY frugal with his money, but he has been known to spend up to 20¢ more per can just to have the ones that stack!

It's pretty funny to me so I often tease him. I guess the joke was on me, when I reorganized the pantry and the cans I bought that didn't stack, kept falling and wouldn't line up like the others.

Do you an opinion on stacking and non-stacking cans?

Kids love getting mail!!

If you ever wanted to make a kids day... just send them something in the mail!! My kids love mail, even junk mail that I throw away, they find a use for.

These are some of the fun mail that has arrived for them... I love the decor!

I would add the pictures of more mail but they usually run off with it before I see it. or I for get to take pictures!!
However I did remember to take a picture of Isabelle smiling with her mail that came the other day...
She received a key chain from AUSTRALIA!!

I have a friend on my Facebook that was on a trip there and was so super awesome to send her one for her collection!!!   I started collecting key chains when I was 11 and I still have 787 key chains!!!
She plans on collecting more then I have, she is well on her way she has 77 and she is only 10!!

Please think of a kid you know, and SEND THEM MAIL today!!!!
I am sure they would love it, and getting a call hearing their excited voice would make you smile as well!!

Who are you going to send mail to?
