Best Spa Ever

We decided to surprise the girls, all 7 of them.
So Jon, Julie, Jaime, Jacob, Michael, Samuel, and myself put together a spa day.

We set up different things in different rooms of the house. We made and hung signs.

Enjoy the pictures following, and by the way   Welcome to ...

Disappointment? Blessing?

Lately I have been thinking... about blessings.
Most people I know, (including myself) tend to dwell, and sometimes obsess over the things, experiences or people we do not have. We will call them disappointments. Instead of being grateful and excited for the things, experiences and people we are blessed with!!!!

All the pressures of life...'being a good parent' and 'raising kids right'.
Along with being accepted by friends and getting approval from family.
Pleasing customers and bosses all the while.

That is a lot if you let it get to you.

I am a firm believer that EVERYTHING happens for reason!
A perfect example from my own life (it took me a LONG time to step back and see the blessing)...
My Mother (best friend and rescuer from all) passed away. I thought my life was over. I was being paid back for all the terrible things and lies I told when I was younger. I also blamed, hated, and became jealous of many people around me. (including myself)

Like I said before it took me a long time to find the blessing and the reason that she was taken from me.
I have grown (physically yes, but not what I meant), I am stronger, less lazy and more motivated then I have ever been.

Blessings come in large forms, all the way down to something tiny.

So what can we do to try harder to appreciate the blessings instead of holding on to the disappointments?
My opinion is, forgive. Forgive others, forgive yourself.
I'm not sure if I like the use of the word Destiny, but I will use it.
Doesn't all the thing that happen whether they are heart wrenching, or just a little upsetting, whether they are AMAZING or just put a smile on your face, apart of our Destiny? Would you be the person you are without the ups and downs?? Would you know the things and people that you know??

Life to me is like a puzzle. Every piece matters and you cannot change the pieces.

Forgive. Forgive yourself for not making the time to coach your child at sports. Forgive yourself for yelling at your spouse. Forgive yourself for lying.

But also forgive others. Forgive your brother for bragging about his new purchase. Forgive the person that hurt your child. Forgive the people that weren't there for you.

It has all past and now you have to try to find the reason/blessing hidden. Because holding on to all the disappointments and anger doesn't fix or change ANYTHING! But finding the hidden blessing could help you and/or others grow.

Trying to count my blessings more often is a goal of mine...

I have 8 kids that are healthy happy, and  all love me! (for right now, the teens are approaching us)
I have a husband that looks at me with a sparkle in his eye after all the years and all the trials we have been through.
I believe in my heart I have THE MOST AMAZING FRIENDS I could ever ask for or dream up!
A blessing that is little but I am grateful for, I have learned the art (and pleasure) of a clean house.
I have many more... but I am more interested in your blessings...

Can you share a few of your blessings? (may help me see more in my own life)

Aaron wanted to surprise his brother and have a party celebrating Jon's birthday before he headed back to Iowa. (even though Jon's b-day was a week away)
So Julie and Jaime scrambled around bought and hung the decorations and Aaron decorated the cake.
When he walked in he was all smiles...

He looked at his cake first...

Williams Water Wall in Houston

No one should visit Houston and not stop to see at least one kool thing while their here.

It is that reason, we drove Aaron through the Galleria area, he enjoyed the street signs, and street lights.

Then we stopped to take a bunch of great pictures at Williams Water Wall. As we were walking we seen Williams tower, everyone thought it was awesome!

St. Patrick's Day

Some green for St. Patrick's Day
I am a little late, but with all the excitement of Aaron in town and the Warrior Dash I was preoccupied. But at least I remembered to take some pictures!
Uncle Aaron made sure to bring his green tie and he had most of the kids pose with it on.

some were less then thrilled

Eggstra Special

My Mom and Jon's Dad and their omelet making skills are something I hope our kids remember forever, I sure will!
My Mom would make fluffy onion and cheese omelets at least two Sundays a month! My mouth is watering just thinking about them. mmmmmmm
Jon's Dad makes his so thin and FULL of yummy everything!!! Just about any vegetable you think of and /or cheese!
I am not the only person that loves these yummy omelets... Dad's tradition has been passed down to his kids (at least to, 2 of them). And lucky me, Jon can make an onion and cheese omelet almost as perfect as Mom used to.
Well that delicious breakfast favorite blessed our house while Uncle Aaron was in town.
Jon and Aaron even had special uniforms to celebrate the breakfast yumminess.
or they made them just to get some love!! Either way they are adorable together and of course silly!

WHOA boots!!

I am telling you that we had NO idea what we would see at the Houston Livestock and Rodeo Show.
So these boots seem crazy to some (me) and normal to others (obviously the guy wearing these).
Funny story about his particular picture... Jaime had asked many people if she could take a picture of their boots...the woman with this guy... NOT happy about it! Oh well he didn't say no.

This woman proudly posed for her picture with her lovely orange hat!

Every slide is one of ours, Grace, Michael, Jacob, Samuel, Eva, Isabelle, Hannah, and Kasey
Jon went up with the kids to try to get some really good shots of them coming down... he held the camera over his shoulder and clicked as he slid all the way down !!! Those pictures were a lovely shot of the sky and the flags on the side... these pics were taken once he stood up and turned around!
They loved this ride and everyone but Grace begged to go again!

Give up chocolate UHG!

As of recently all I seem to crave is salad. Not just any salad, a salad with everything possible thrown in.

When I was little, I remember my mom telling me that if I am missing nutrients or vitamins of sort, I will have strong cravings.

Maybe, due to my lack of meat consumption my body is begging me for a lot of greens. I always feel my healthiest and happiest when I eat fresh foods.

I will always believe that the healthiest way to eat is raw. Which I never would have known or tried if it weren't for my friends the Dague's.

2 + years of not eating meat, started out really hard on myself and my family. After just a few months, Jon got really creative and boy can he cook... his specialty fresh vegetables.

Soda, and chocolate are next on my list of foods to give up. Not that I believe I will EVER be able to completely give up chocolate! It is extremely difficult to avoid all the temptations!

I am hopeful that my kids will learn from the things I tell them and show them so they will always chose to eat healthy as they grow.

I am blessed to have people in my life that also enjoy and encourage fresh eating!

3 my of very favorite salad items are beets, feta and garbanzo beans

 Are you craving anything lately?

Obsession or Insanity?

I love the smell of a freshly cleaned kitchen or bathroom.

What is wrong with me?? I have become that cleaning crazed person that I thought only obsessive compulsive people were. (not that I don't have many OCD people in my life and adore them profusely)

I used to think socializing was so much more important than cleaning, resulting in me and my family running around trying to clean EVERYTHING right before a get together at my house!

I love my house clean and organized to the point that, every night after dinner I go straight from the table to the kitchen and scrub the dishes, of course with one of my cute scrubbers. When I wake in the morning I must start a load of laundry. I wipe the counters in the kitchen more times in a day then I can count.
I walk around the house and look for things that I can clean or can have someone in the house clean.

Now I know that some of my friends and family members have been doing all this plus some for years, but it seemed to take me longer. I am grateful for this new found love of a clean and organized house.
I believe that I have finally grown up. And realized cleaning isn't as overwhelming and difficult as I once made myself believe. Which is why I procrastinated doing housework.
Another thing I believe is, the sunshine (instead of gray skies half the year) is a natural motivator.

"A clean house is a happy house" a quote I read on Facebook recently, rings true to me. As well as a sign hanging in my sister-in-laws kitchen saying "If mama ain't happy, ain't nobody happy".
If my house is clean, I am happy and if I am happy, then I tend to make everyone in the house happy.

Is cleaning your house an obsession or an obstacle?

I love MakeUp

MAKE-UP!!! Oh how I love make-up!
I have so many different brands, I like different things from each.
In my collection right now I have Mary Kay, E.L.F., NYX, Loreal, MAC, and a few more but they are absent from my crazy mind at this time.

Recently while shopping with my husband, we came across quite an extraordinary deal on E.L.F. products!
The amount of money spent is incredible!
This compact was only $5 on clearance!
I was really attracted to the golds in the compact.

I had never bought E.L.F. lip gloss before but I figured what the heck, it was so cheap that if I didn't like it I could give them to my daughters.
This package of lip gloss cost ONLY $2.50
Sadly, the tube on the top left was broke when I opened it. ( that was my favorite color in the pack) I let my daughters have most of them, I did keep the one on the top right. It's definitely not my favorite lip gloss.

I mostly had browns and neutrals in my collection, which tends to be BORINNNNGG after awhile.
So when I seen the colors in these packages and the price... well I HAD to have them!!
This cost $2.50 and I use the brush/eye liner pencil all the time!

The color I have used most from the colors above has to be the shimmering white.

Cost $2.50... I LOVE LOVE LOVE the gold and the sparkling black
and again $2.50

Did I mention that I have a lot of browns and neutrals? Well maybe because they what I turn to most of the time. I have been trying to use more variety of colors, but this pack was just too inviting to pass up!!!
Grand Total for all purchases $15!
It made me happy and Jon happy at the same time!!

What's your favorite brand and color?

UPS = Smiles

When I see the UPS truck pull up out front, I always get so excited like kid on Christmas! Pretty funny, because I am usually the one ordering whatever shows up. Anyway I decided to show you my latest delivery.
I know I should be over it by now since I have been selling and receiving these Partylite boxes for a few years now... but I love the smell of the candles inside, and the excitement of burning a new fragrance.

Here is most of what came in the this box... this is my silly attempt at art
There are some jar candles, some melts for my warmers, and some votives ... there were also reed difusers in my VERY favorite fragrance, Tangelo Mojito (sadly it is retired, boo)
In my warmers.... I decided to go all Tangelo Mojito on the house today....
If someone asked me just one thing I think everyone should buy from partylite... it would most DEFINITELY be a warmer!!
This is my husbands favorite Partylite piece. It was a gift a few years back. I just added this picture because I lit it today and it looked lovely!

What's your favorite Partylite fragrance?

The big set up!

While Julie's entourage was in town, we went to Wiliams Water Wall. Even though we have lived here for 6 months, that was my first time there.
While we were there it was very chilly outside and windy also, so I clicked a couple pictures...

Julie posing it up...
Christopher, Terrie and Julie...
Christopher then tells us one more picture...
